Vanessa Empire
FOUNDER, PRINCIPAL DESIGNER
Vanessa was born at Boulder Community Hospital and raised in the atelier. As the daughter of a master couturier who built a luxury tailoring business in Boulder in 1985, she grew up surrounded by bolts of silk, dress forms, and discerning clients who demanded perfection. While still in school earning her Bachelor of Arts in Interior Design, Vanessa managed the retail and textile wing of her family’s studio, led international trunk shows, and taught couture technique to the next generation of young designers. Her mother — the first woman to serve as President of the Custom Tailors and Designers Association of the World — passed on more than skill. She passed on standards.

Vanessa went on to intern for a fashion house in Los Angeles and later with an architect in Boulder before working for a local design firm. But her real education came from building her own studio from the ground up. Since founding Vanessa Empire Interiors, she’s made a name designing rebellious, refined interiors that feel like they’ve walked off the pages of a fashion editorial — only built to last.
With roots in Boulder and a decade in business by 2026, Vanessa remains obsessed with the details that matter: masterful construction, custom craftsmanship, and homes that move with the people who live in them.
